We took a mutual Executive Decision to brand Day Five as the Best Of edition; somewhat the tourism take on Mariah Carey’s Greatest Hits album from 2001.
We had ticked off every monument, site, fountain and ancient ruin you could think of from our itinerary, so Day Five was dedicated to revisiting our favourite places before we bid addio in two days’ time.
With an extra spring in our step on this fine morning, we took advantage of the pleasant day and climbed Palatine Hill to scope out a bird’s eye view.
Seeing the Colosseum for the first time in person was spectacular and that feeling is exactly the same the second, third, fourth, one-hundredth time. It rightfully earned its title as one of the wonders of the world.
Feeling peckish, we headed back to Termini to grab some grub and refreshing caffeinated beverages before dashing to our next port of call: Vittoria.
Vittoria: our brief hangout spot from Day One. A small stomping ground for the South Asians of Rome. We returned to check out their street market offerings and local Asian eateries.
Successful in our search, we tucked away in one of the booths and feasted on the most divine lamb biryani. Sensational with every bite.
Cravings satiated, we returned to the bustling streets at the centre of Termini for a stroll, cheeky spot of window shopping and a gelato fix.
